1. PM announces special economic package of
Rs 20 lakh crore:-
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a special economic package worth over 20
lakh crore rupees which is 10% of India's GDP in view of the
COVID-19.
- The package would provide relief to almost every
segment of the population.
- The relief came after PM's 5th address to the nation
during pandemic in Mann ki Baat.
- He also announced Lockdown 4 that will have new rules.
- He appealed to Indians to come
forward and take on the responsibility of building a self reliant India.
2. Paralympics silver medalist Deepa Malik announces retirement:-
- Deepa Malik announced
her retirement to serve as the office-bearer in Paralympic Committee of India (PCI).
- She is the first Indian woman to win Silver Medal at
2016 Summer Paralympics in the shot put.
- She won gold in F-53/54 Javelin
event at the para athletic grand Prix held in Dubai in 2018.
- She has been awarded with Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award, Arjuna award (2012) and Padma Shri
Award (2017).
- She is also the recipient of 58 national and 23
international medals.
3. Bengaluru airport won ‘SKYTRAX award’ for being best
regional airport:-
- The Kempegowda
International Airport, Bengaluru has won SKYTRAX Award 2020 for Best Regional Airport in India and
Central Asia
- It is for the third time in 4 years that it has been
awarded as the best airport.
- ‘SKYTRAX Awards’ are based on the World Airport Survey questionnaires completed
by over 100 nationalities during the 6-month survey.
- The survey evaluated customer
experience from check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security to
departure at the gate.
4. Ministry of MSME launches CHAMPIONS Portal:-
- Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium
Enterprises (MSME) launched
'CHAMPIONS' Portal Champions.gov.in.
- It is a technology driven Control Room-Cum-Management Information System.
- It stands for Creation and Harmonious Application of
Modern Processes for Increasing the Output and National Strength.
- This portal is a one-stop-shop solution of the MSME Ministry.
- The portal is also empowered with AI, Data Analytics and Machine Learning
with grievances portal CPGRAMS.
5. Actor and scriptwriter Shafique Ansari passes away:-
- Actor Shafique
Ansari (52 years) passes away.
- He rose to prominence with his work in several episodes
of TV show Crime Patrol.
- Shafique Ansari was a member of The Cine & TV Artistes’ Association
(CINTAA) since 2008.
- He began his career as an assistant director and writer
and was screenwriter for
Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini starrer Baghban (2003).
- Some of his other films as a writer are Dost (1974);
Izzatdaar (1990); Pratiggya (1975); Dil Ka Heera(1979).
6. US comedian Jerry Stiller passes away:-
- US comedian Jerry Stiller (92 years) passes away
- He was renowned for his recurring role as George
Costanza’s father on TV’s Seinfeld for which he was also nominated for Emmy Awards in 1997.
- His other popular roles include that of Arthur Spooner
in TV sitcom “The King of
Queens”.
- He received joint star on the
Hollywood Walk of Fame along with his wife Meara in year 2007.
7. China Wins FIDE Chess.com Online
Nations Cup:-
- China won
the inaugural $180,000
FIDE Chess.com Online Nations Cup following
a 2-2 draw against USA and
winning the round-robin phase.
- China won $48,000, USA $36,000 and others received
$24,000 each.
- The Superfinal concluded 6 days online competitive
chess at the highest level between 6 international teams full of top grandmasters.
- Co-organized by FIDE and Chess.com,
the event had a peak of over a million concurrent viewers across all
languages and broadcast partners.
8. External Affairs Minister held virtual joint commission with
Denmark:-
- External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar held his first virtual joint commission today with Denmark
Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod and reviewed bilateral ties.
- The two leaders discussed COVID-19 and close
cooperation in green and sustainable economic recovery.
- The joint meet strengthened
focus on clean technology, urbanization, renewable energy, green
solutions, and food processing.
9. Indian Railways mandate Aarogya Setu mobile application:-
- The Indian
Railways has now made installation of Government’s Aarogya Setu mobile
application mandatory for passengers before commencing their
journey.
- The step is applicable to all the passengers who are
either availing the special train or passenger train services.
- Passengers, who do not have the app installed on their
mobile phones, might be asked to do so after their arrival at the station.
10. IIIT Guwahati organizes poster competition under EBSB
Campaign:-
- IIIT keeps organized Poster
Making Competition under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) Campaign.
- EBSB is a campaign run by government to celebrate the
spirit of Unity in Diversity of our Nation with Ministry for HRD as the nodal ministry.
- The competition was held online due to lockdown.
- The topic of the competition was “RAJASTHAN TOURISM AND TRAVELS”.
11. CFTRI develops Spirulina groundnut Chikki to boost immunity:-
- The Mysuru-based Central Food Technological Research Institute, CFTRI has
developed Spirulina groundnut
Chikki that can provide micro-nutrients and boost immunity of
people during this time of pandemic.
- Spirulina is a biomass of
cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) that can be consumed by humans and
animals.
- The Income Tax Department of Karnataka and Goa region
has distributed 500 kilograms
of CFTRI Chikkies to migrant labourers in Bengaluru and
surrounding areas.
12. CSIR approves project to develop ‘hmAbs’ that can
neutralize SARS-CoV-2:-
- CSIR approves to generate
"hmAbs" that aims to neutralize SARS-CoV-2 in COVID-19 patients.
- The project is approved by CSIR through its New Millennium Indian Technology Leadership
Initiative (NMITLI) programme.
- The project also aims to anticipate future adaptation
of the virus and generate hmAbs clones that can neutralize the mutated virus so that
could be readily used for combating future SARS-CoV infections.
13. GI tag for Jharkhand’s Sohrai Khovar painting and
Telangana’s Telia Rumal:-
- The Sohrai
Khovar painting of Jharkhand and Telia Rumal of Telangana have
received the Geographical
Indication (GI) tag from Geographical Indications Registry.
- Sohrai Khovar painting: Local
tribal women of Jharkhand (Hazaribagh) practices this traditional and ritualistic mural art with different colors of soil.
- Telia Rumal: It
involves complex handmade work with cotton loom using handloom and
exhibits a variety of designs
and motifs in red,
black and white colours.
14. TDB and CII organized “RE-START” digital conference:-
- Technology Development Board
(TDB) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) have
jointly organised a Digital Conference “RE-START”.
- RE-START stands for Reboot the Economy through Science,
Technology and Research Translations
- The conference was organized on
the occasion of National Technology Day.
- The conference was followed by technical sessions on
‘Medicines & Medical Technologies’, ‘Advanced Materials: New
Technology Horizons’, etc.
